The premise: a person from the city arrives in a rural community, relying on the help of the locals to realise an unlikely project.  Each story explores a unique conflict along the countryside / city divide. Subjects include: the role of men and women in modern-day Italy, the stuttering start to Germany’s “Verkehrswende”, food production and consumption under global capitalism.  Episodes were shot in Milan, Emilia-Romagna, Cologne, Baden-Württemberg, Münster and Niedersachsen.As showrunner of the series I worked closely with local producers, protagonists and directors to research and develop each story, put together shooting teams, write treatments and supervise edits.The show received funding from the Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg and premiered in May, 2023. During the investigation we managed to track down North Korean workers in Poland, discovering how little they earn, their fear of retribution should they defect, and who exactly profits from their exploitation.  As Chief Editor I oversaw the investigation, production and editing of the documentary. These included: The War of Others Report on the German and international fighters with the Kurdish YPG close to the IS stronghold of Raqqa Room For Rent The story of Berlin’s refugee housing crisis, exploring how hostels exploit the state’s temporary accommodation scheme Polish ParamilitariesReport on paramilitary groups in Poland, whose numbers tripled following Russia’s invasion of the Crimea in 2014. Brown Coal Blues Miners, environmentalists and residents reveal the impact of Germany's energy policy on the towns and forests making way for the mining of coal. The result were six half-hours about the stranger sides of German society, bravely hosted by Manuel Möglich.The show was commissioned for a total of four seasons spanning twenty four individual episodes. I developed and co-wrote the show, supervised the edit and directed the first six episodes.In 2011 Wild Germany was nominated for the Deutschen Fernsehpreis.
